Marriage Celebration Retreat
February 12-14, 2021
Whether you’ve been married many years or just one year, life happens. Things change. We change. Join us and take time to laugh, remember, and re-vision your marriage together. Enjoy a wonderful weekend with a banquet dinner, breakfast in bed, evening entertainment, and great sessions.
Growing up in neighboring communities in Iowa allowed Mark and Jody to meet and marry young. Now they shake their heads as they realize they've been married for nearly 4 decades. A career in the Hospitality industry, a nursing degree, two kids, a move into full-time ministry, building a business and a non-profit, trained worship leader, marriage mentoring/lay counseling and now 4 grandkids have filled those years to the maximum. Iowa natives, they have lived in all four corners and landed in the middle 14 years ago.
Currently when Mark and Jody are not working their "tent making" jobs in townhome property management and nursing at a MercyOne Clinic you will find them ministering to people and small churches throughout Iowa, playing with their grandkids or riding their tandem trikes.
Their passion to share the love of Christ by transparently sharing their own life lessons has led to hearing "me too" more times than they can count. Their goal is not to "fix" marriages or people but to help people truly know their limitless God. That takes care of everything.
As former Ingham Okoboji year-round staff, Mark and Jody are delighted to come back and help lead this year's marriage celebration weekend.
A Marriage Recharge! While all of Christian marriages are based on the truth of God's Word, the way that plays out is entirely unique to your marriage. So why should this marriage retreat be the same as all the others? Your Marriage Chefs for the weekend, Mark & Jody, would like to recharge your marriage relationship by providing you a "made to order" session options menu.
Marriage A La Carte
The sessions will begin with the “Chef’s Choice”. After that the group will choose the “four course meal” by voting on the following topics.:
Disputes (without long term hurt)
Problem Solving - You pick a problem. We will work through it.
Forgiveness - Equals freedom
Legacy - What and how to pass on
Having Fun - Even when you've been married ____ years
Sex - Three letter words are so much fun!
Commitment - leads to abundance
Physical Health - The big variable in a marriage
Seasons of Married Life - We live in Iowa. There are four seasons (at least)
Love Languages/Personalities - Finally understanding what makes my spouse tik or is it tok?
Spiritual Life Together
$199 for the weekend
$109 commuter rate (breakfast not included)
Deposit: $50/couple (non-refundable)
Safety is of primary concern at camp, so we wanted to let you know of some of the most important adjustments we’ve made in regards to COVID-19:
Tables have been spaced apart in the dining areas to be six feet between groups.
Instead of buffet style, food will be served by the staff who are gloved and masked.
Additional cleaning and sanitizing in sleeping rooms and all throughout camp.
Masks are required for anyone interacting with others outside your predetermined group when six feet of physical distance is not possible.
“This is the best Valentine’s gift anyone could give to their spouse, a wonderful weekend with time to learn and grow together.” - Marriage Celebration Retreat participant
“We arrived pretty sad, broken, and at one of the lowest points in our marriage. By the end we were able to laugh, cry, and smile together and know everything, in God’s timing, would be okay.” – Marriage Retreat Participant
